Weisman Art Museum

The Collection

Search the Weisman Art Museum's collection of more than 20,000 objects, which contains a wide range of work that spans continents, time, and media. It (Our collection) includes a strong holding of early twentieth-century American art as well as the most complete collection of traditional Korean furniture found outside of Asia. The Weisman is home to works from the WPA program and an incredible ceramics collection that dates from prehistoric times to the present.

To find works in the collection, click on the "Search the Collection" link to explore objects and artists and to search for past Weisman exhibitions.

Information and images may be used for personal and educational use. While WAM owns the art object, it does not own copyright in many cases. Copyright clearance is the responsibility of the applicant to obtain from the owner or administrator of the copyright. To request images for reproduction, please contact the WAM's Rights & Reproductions department at wamrr@umn.edu.

This database will be continually updated with works of art as they enter the collection and as we work to complete photographing all objects.

Public Art on Campus

The University of Minnesota has one of the country’s largest and most dynamic public art programs. Public art graces more than thirty locales around campus in building entrances and hallways, courtyards and plazas, and in other unique sites. The artworks range from traditional sculpture to gardens to multi-media installations. Some are interactive. Some are expressions of social or political discourse. Some memorialize people and mark historic events. Whether amusing, inspiring, or provocative, these installations share at least one common trait: Each artwork helps to create a unique sense of place on campus.
